Job Description 

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for the full lifecycle of application development, encompassing front-end, server-side, distributed messaging/streaming, and database technologies. This role demands exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate the complexities of our applications within a dynamic industry. This position reports directly to the VP of Enterprise Application Architecture and Development. 

You Will 

  • Collaborate closely with product managers to:  

    • Design, estimate, and implement application features across front-end, server-side, and database tiers, adhering to the company's architectural standards and secure development practices 
    • Design and architect robust solutions, including the development of Proof-of-Concepts (POCs), and subsequently scaling them to enterprise-grade production readiness 
    • Design and architect message/streaming technologies to effectively support critical business use cases 
    • Develop services for data acquisition and seamless integration into the company's data tier 
  • Adhere to established software configuration and delivery pipeline procedures 

  • Conduct thorough testing, including unit, commit, integration, and non-functional (performance, penetration, security) testing, to ensure software quality and readiness for release 

  • Proactively troubleshoot data issues in development, test, and production environments, utilizing performance metrics and test reports to pinpoint problem areas

  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to effectively address complex challenges within the application domain 

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal skills to foster successful collaboration with teammates and effectively communicate with stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) 

  • Maintain a meticulous focus on quality and a deep understanding of customer needs 

  • Exhibit exceptional time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to independently accomplish assigned tasks 

  • Demonstrate a strong capacity for self-directed learning, a proactive approach to staying current with industry best practices and emerging technologies 

  • Possess robust analytical and troubleshooting skills 

  • Thrive in a collaborative environment, effectively communicating and contributing as part of a cross-functional agile delivery team 

  • Possess a solid understanding of design patterns and a strong foundation in Linux/Unix operating system principles 

  • (Highly Desirable) Experience in financial services, particularly within brokerage, wealth management, or trading domains 

Your Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience  with a minimum of 10 years of proven success in application development 

  • Proven experience in agile methodologies, including user story review and estimation 

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience with Java, .NET, C, C# programming languages, demonstrating a well-rounded skillset 

  • Minimum 10 years of experience with Node.js, Backbone.js, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript 

  • Expert-level proficiency in object-oriented JavaScript or (preferably) TypeScript 

  • Proven experience with Event-Driven Architecture and Service-Oriented Architecture 

  • Strong experience with distributed messaging systems/frameworks such as RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, or Apache Pulsar 

  • Deep expertise in containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes and Helm for enterprise-grade deployments 

  • Experience with automated unit testing frameworks for Node.js (e.g., Mocha) or Java/TestNG 

  • Experience with Jenkins CI/CD for automated deployments 

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployments on AWS, GCP, or Azure 

  • Proven proficiency in RESTful web API development, both as a producer and consumer 

  • Daily utilization of common IDEs and source control systems such as Git/GitHub

  • Salary: $105,000 - $130,000
